TB testing requirements for presenting in-person

To present in-person in the classroom, you must have current negative TB test results. TB tests are good for 4 years, and then require renewal. If you have TB test results from within the last 4 years, you may alternatively submit these.

If you need a TB test, schedule an appointment with your primary care provider or seek out an alternative location such as the CVS Minute Clinics. The standard TB test is the skin test which is usually a 2-part visit, days apart. However, some volunteers may need to seek the blood test and should clarify with their doctor or technician. In either case, any associated fees will be covered by SJMA for this process once a receipt has been provided.

Once you have completed your TB test, please send proof of your negative test to Kelsey Rieger via email at Krieger@sjmusart.org.
SJMA reimburses for the cost of both Livescan (fingerprinting) and TB Tests. To receive reimbursement, you must send your receipt to Kelsey Rieger at Krieger@sjmusart.org.

Fingerprinting requirements for presenting in-person

Accepted Answer

As a San Jose Museum of Art (SJMA) volunteer going into the classroom working with children, you are required to be fingerprinted and have a background check. Even if you have been fingerprinted for other organizations, it is required for you to be fingerprinted again for SJMA.

You only need to be fingerprinted for the museum one time (usually during training).

How do I keep track of my volunteer hours and miles?

FOR PRESENTATIONS
Your hours and miles for presenting in the classroom or virtually are entered when you send in your completion numbers to the coordinator at llaa@sjmusart.org.

FOR ALL OTHER VOLUNTEER HOURS AND MILES
When you attend meetings, study groups, field trips, do committee work, and so on, log your additional hours and miles by selecting Additional Hours and Miles from the dropdown menu under your name (to the right of the menu bar, just below the search box).

A screen similar to the following will be displayed:

Click the info button for further instructions
Click + button to enter a new item. Save each item when done.
At the end of the school year when you have finished entering all of your hours and miles, check the box and the Submit button.
