The second study group focused on visual art made by women who are “beyond the canon.” Sadly, this includes most female artists.  There is only a small handful of well-known female artists (e.g., Frida Kahlo, Mary Cassatt, Georgia O’Keefe) who are “inside the canon," but focused instead on the many, many other women artists who are less well known.
