The second study group of 2021-22 was held via zoom once again. Jody Foster began the session with a brief look at four Impressionist women artists; Mary Cassatt, Berthe Morisot, Eva Gonzales, and Marie Bracquemont. She ended her presentation with present day Judy Chicago. Lotte Van de Walle spoke about the French artist Orlan. A visual and multimedia artist best known for her "campaign of self-transformation through plastic surgery." Liana Salikhova shared art by Njideka Akunyili Crosby. A Nigerian born artist who's artwork represents the "cultural terrain between her adopted home in America and her native Nigeria." She then showed us artwork by Lorna Simpson; an American photographer and multimedia artist best known for "exploring themes and ideas relating to identity on the lives and experiences of people who are often marginalised in society." She closed her presentation with the artwork of Bisa Butler; an American fiber artist who creates quilts that look like paintings. Bisa uses African textiles to create quilted art celebrating Black life. Tony Misch chose two of his favorite artists; Max Beckman and Pierre Bonnard, concentrating on their self-portraits. Finally, Tricia Hill gave us a preview of a couple of artists; Kehinde Wiley and Titus Kaphor who may be included in a new AITD presentaion on Contemporary Portrait Artists.
