Our last meeting for this year was held at the Farmer’s Union Restaurant in San Pedro Square. We were given several choices for lunch followed by Tony’s end of the year gratitude awards for these docents:

IVONNE - the “Energy, Imagination, great communication and attention to detail award.” In the “bringing us fun and good things to eat in a difficult year category goes to our tireless Cuban queen of hospitality…Ivonne Calzadilla-Gomez.

BARB – When the history of LLAA is written, dates will be designated as BBN or ABN – before and after Barb Nelson, This year’s “Metrician, Statistician, and All Around Wonder Woman” award in the “We probably wouldn’t even have known we’d reached 1,000,000 and certainly wouldn’t have had the exciting countdown goes to the remarkable Barb Nelson.

TOBY – The “Making Great things possible” award in the “Quietly shepherding unprecedented gifts to the LLAA coffers” category goes to our beloved and admired Toby Fernald.

SHANNON – The “Courage Under Pressure” award in the battling the Wendel Center AV dragon category goes to our too often unsung behind the scenes but indispensable Shannon Stearns.

BETH – The “Putting us over the Top Award” goes to Beth Herner

SHERRY – The”Reprised Award” in the category because Tony thought it should be a surprise and didn’t tell her in advance she didn’t get the much deserved round of applause for sharing this year’s Above and Beyond Award. Goes to Sherry Tsai

LISA – The “Jumping in with both feet” award in the great new crop of docents and the advanced recruiting and nurturing of next year’s class category goes (in absentia—she was forced to spend this week basking in the Hawaiian sun) goes to Lisa Dearborn.
