The 2023 Cornerstone of the Arts Awards was held at the Susan B. Hammer Theater in San Jose on October 19th. LLAA was nominated for the Creative Impact Award. This award was given to a cultural or artistic project or program that has made a significant impact on the community. Tony Misch, our president, accepted the award from Lynne Rosenthal, the Chair of the San Jose Arts Commission and one of our original docents from the beginning of our organization in 1972.

Tony thanked Maria Rivera, the 7th Grade History teacher from Shirakawa Elementary school who was instrumental in getting her principal and 17 of her colleagues as co-signers to our nomination. Ken Matsamoto, gallery owner and artist also nominated us. He called LLAA "an investment in the cultural future in our community. LLAA provides a young person's first experience looking at art."
