The first study group of 2023 was held in the lovely home of Lotte Van de Walle. It was fitting that the theme of the study group was food in art for the November meeting. The first thing on the agenda was to feast on the wonderful food prepared by our docents. Suman brought some Indian food, Ivonne made a couple of Cuban pies; one savory and one sweet. Lotte made an amazing soup and tiramisu. We had apple tarts, candy, quiches and salads. It was a pre-Thanksgiving feast. Satisfied with all the amazing food we sat down to listen to the presentations.

Jody Foster presented an overview Called "Food & Art, The Bodega". Lisa Dearborn gave a presentation called "Food Dogs and Frogs." A comparison of food art by David Gilhooly and Wayne Thiebaud. Elisabeth Bonnet researched food in Anime art. Marcia Klein spoke on Feliz Gonzalez-Torres - "Candy Art." Ivonne Calzadilla-Gomez gave her presentation on Tony Mendoza, a Cuban American artist. Tony Misch presented us with some of his food art - "Let's Do Toast." A pictorial view of his breakfast toast throughout several days, months? Toby spoke on David Gilhooly's life and art. We finished off the study group with Suman Ganapathy's presentation on "Food in Indian Art." Lotte and Carrie observed and enjoyed the presentations and food.
