On October 24th the Continuing Education Committee invited us to gather at Suman Ganapathy's home in Morgan Hill to present the spooky theme of Art and Horror and how artists have depicted the horrific in the visual arts. The pot-luck featured Ghostly cookies, Spider bell peppers and colorful vegetables and food that embraced Halloween. A few docents came in costume; Lisa Lewis as a fair maiden from the Renaissance, Jennifer McGougan in Steam Punk and Toby Fernald as a very cute witch! There were five presentations: Suman Ganapathy - "Unveiling the Darkness - The Meaning of Horror in Art." Christina Zhao - "Skeletan Fantasy Show." Debbie Watson - "The Exorcist." Jody Foster - "The Changing Face of Horror in Art." Lisa Dearborn - "Landscapes of Desolation." Joseph Coha - "Goya."

This was a well attended study group. In addition to the five presenters, we had seven docents on hand to listen and comment on the presentations, enjoy good food and learn more about each other. Those docents were; Carrie Ross, Tony Misch, Toby Fernald, Lotte Van De Walle, Lisa Lewis, Debbie Watson and Jennifer McGougan.
