2025 January General Meeting

Louise Persson, LLAA Preseident opened the meeting. Tony Misch intorduced the four docents who will be in our up-coming training class. We have a small group this year but all are excited to become fo part of our docent family. They are Linda Cortinas, Kristine Eng, Amy Mears, and Coleen Papalias. Lisa Dearborn shared some highlights from her trip to the Docent Symposium in Atlanta. We were given a questionnaire to write down our thoughts and wisdom on what it is like to be a docent. These will be compiled and shared with the membership.
Our featured speaker is Nihdi Gandi. She gave a brief summary of the new exhibition that will be openeing March 7th in the First floor galleries of the museum. The Exhibit is dedicated to the Musuem's collection, some of which have not been seen in decades. It is called "Tending and Dreaming: Stories from the Collection." It covers 6 subjects or ideas. 1. Local resonances, 2 - Self Making; How we define ourselves; 3 - Reclaiming Histories; Redefining historical figuares, icons, symbols; 4 - Connectivity; Thinking about technological connectivity, how humans connect; 5 - More than Human; What it is to be human and connect with the world around us; and, 6 - Transcending the Visible; How to make art that represents the impossible visible, such as music, light or memories.
