San Jose Museum of Art held their annual Volunteer Recognition lunch in the museum’s Wendel Center May 22. Docents from the Museum Store, Let’s Look at Art and the Docent Council are recognized for their contribution to the museum. Karen Rapp, the Deputy Director for the museum gave the opening remarks. Susan Sayre Batton, the outgoing director for the museum gave a video presentation thanking the volunteers for their dedication to the museum.

The buffet luncheon was provided by Mezcal restaurant that featured a variety of Mexican dishes.

Service pins for the Museum Store were given by Gemma Armas the Manager of Retail Operations. Kelsey Rieger Olsen, Manager of K-12 gave out the service pins for Let’s Look at Art and Jeff Bordona, Director ofMuseum Experience and Education gave out the service pins for the Docent Council.

Giada Conte was awarded her 5 year service pin and Marcia Klein received her 10 year service pin.

The Above and Beyond Award for Let’s Look at Art was given to two people this year: Tony Misch and Suman Ganapathy.

In addition to lunch and awards we were asked to share a SJMA Memory from our time at the museum and played the game: Who Am I? This is a great way to get to know some more of our fellow museum docents. We were given a label with the name of a person to attach to our backs. We were only allowed to ask yes or no questions. People who guessed their person raced over to Gemma who gave out prizes.
