The day began about 9am in San Jose for the hour's drive to Benicia. Michael and Linda and their three dogs (including two large, exuberant, and outspoken puppies) greeted us at the door of the glass-brick-fronted building—originally a brewery, then a restaurant and bar—which they acquired in 2000, transforming into their home and studios.
